Childbirth and weight loss can cause the abdominal skin and muscles to become stretched, and no amount of dieting, exercise, or even liposuction will relieve the baggy, saggy look. Dr. Terracina can perform an abdominoplasty, also called a "tummy tuck," to remedy this problem. In the procedure, Dr. Terracina removes excess skin and tightens the muscles to give the abdomen a trim, conditioned look. If you have developed a "pot belly," and nothing you have tried has helped, you may wish to consider abdominoplasty. Virtually all our Jackson, Mississippi and other Delta-area patients who have had the procedure are very pleased with the results, and many state that they regret that they didn't have their abdominoplasty sooner. You, too, can overcome that saggy look and achieve a trimmer, flatter contour to your abdomen.
Dr. Terracina will meet with you in your initial consultation to discuss your needs and concerns. You will learn about tummy tuck surgery, its possible risks and complications, and the recovery process. You'll also be able to look at before-and-after pictures of patients who have had the tummy tuck procedure. Our Jackson, Mississippi and other Delta-area patients who have undergone abdominoplasty have allowed us to use their photographs because they are proud of what they have achieved and hope that others can benefit by seeing actual examples of Dr. Terracina's skills.
Depending on the extent of work necessary, an abdominoplasty procedure generally takes three to four hours and is performed using IV (sleep) sedation. You will need to plan on at least three weeks for a full recovery. Dr. Terracina will meet with you several times during this period to ensure that healing is proceeding well. As you will see in the before-and-after abdominoplasty photographs of our Jackson, Mississippi and other Delta-area patients, the procedure does leave some scarring. If you are eligible for a "mini tummy tuck," the scar can be limited to the width of your pubic region. With a standard abdominoplasty, the incision extends at least from hip to hip, leaving a long scar that heals well but is always present. Scarring is easily hidden by a bathing suit, so there is no need to worry that you won't be able to enjoy outdoor activities after having the procedure.
If you have all but given up on achieving a flat, firm abdomen, we encourage you to schedule an appointment with Dr. Terracina to learn how a tummy tuck can give you the look you desire.
